About Chris

Career

By day, Chris is head of strategic partnerships at Carrum Health. Carrum is rearchitecting the way healthcare is paid for and delivered. It's no secret the traditional healthcare business model is unsustainable, which is why at Carrum we are fundamentally changing the paradigm to foster more affordable, high-quality and consumer-centric care.

Chris has a history of building consumer-centric solutions to solve complex problems in HealthTech and FinTech. Prior to Carrum, Chris led Virgin Pulse's partner ecosystem, helping clients and members seamlessly connect with the largest, global health and wellbeing marketplace. Chris also launched VP+, a first-of-its-kind partner bundle solution that enables a connected health experience through a collection of integrated partners in a one-contract buying solution at considerable cost savings.

Chris joined Virgin Pulse through the acquisition of Yaro in January 2020. At Yaro, Chris was head of product and developed a white-labeled care and benefits navigation solution for health plans, TPAs, and employers. The technology acquired from Yaro is now Virgin Pulse Navigate.

Prior to Yaro, Chris was a Technology Consultant at Accenture where he specialized in large-scale systems implementation and conversion projects within the Financial Services industry, including roles in management consulting, project management, business analysis, and process design. His clients included JPMorgan Chase, TD Ameritrade, Scottrade, and QBE Insurance.

Personal life

Outside of his career, Chris is passionate about athletics, writing, investing and entrepreneurship. He has written for the Fleet Feet Sports Blog and on this site's blog. He makes it a priority to continually further his education and growth. He has experience founding online businesses and continues to pursue additional entrepreneurial ventures, including founding Beer Mile Media.

Aside from his professional life, Chris's number one hobby is running. He races for DWRunning in races ranging from one mile to the marathon. He is the current American Record Holder in the Beer Mile (4:37) and has won multiple beer mile world titles (2017, 2020). He is also the Beer 2-Mile World Record Holder in 10:18, set in 2020. Not only does running allow him to channel his strong competitive nature, it also is his form of meditation and stress relief. His best ideas often come while out on the trails or track.

Chris moved to Chicago in 2015 after graduating from Iowa State University with an MBA and B.S. in Industrial Engineering to start his career with Accenture. Before Iowa State, Chris spent his childhood growing up in Iowa City, Iowa.
